Many of us after New Years or a little bit before the holiday start cleaning, rearranging, and organizing our homes. We do our best to clean everything from top to bottom. We don’t want to have any unnecessary junk cluttering our lives for the future a head. There are two areas that seem to be the most crowed or in disarray in most homes. The closets and cabinets are usually packed to full capacity with clutter!
We can give the impression of a clean, beautiful, and spotless home by simply throwing everything in the closet. Tell the truth. Are you guilty of that to? I do my best to keep my house clean, smelling nice, and germ free with four kids running around the house. Guests would enter our home, and they would see the façade of things cleaned in place. However, if they would’ve opened the closets they would’ve of ran from the clutter falling on their heads. Watch out! I recently did a big clean in our closets at home, but before than things would’ve fell out soon as someone opened the doors.
I had so many unnecessary things cluttering my closets. They were filled with things from my past that I no longer needed. The closets were also filled with things given to me by others that I accepted out of politeness, belonging, and what was accepted out of obligation that I know had no use for me. Those things could no longer serve me in the now. All these things were cluttering my closets to the point that I couldn’t see what I needed. I missed out on some jewels that were treasures hidden in the dark from harboring so much “unnecessary” clutter in being a distraction.
I say all of that to say this, in relation to our lives in growing spiritually, physically, financially, emotionally, and growing into all that God had called us to be is evaluating our inner closets. Let go unnecessary clutter, baggage, and distractions. Many of us are carrying around a lot of excess baggage in our lives that’s holding us hostage. Our emotional closets are filled to the brim with past issues. We can even hide, pack, and hold on to baggage that doesn’t even belong to us. It’s holding us down, draining our spirits, and clouding our vision to see where Christ is trying to lead us. Go to God in prayer. Release that emotional baggage of hurt, pain, guilt, shame, and stress. You will feel much lighter, at peace, embrace the beauty of joy, and discover some hidden gems about yourself. Be blessed !
I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
